Do You Feel Lost When It Comes To Your Teenage Dog’s Training?

You’ve been to puppy classes and your dog knows what to do, but when it comes to applying the training in the real world your dog doesn’t listen to a word you say! It’s frustrating because you know your dog can do the behaviour, but they won’t do it consistently or around distractions.

You’ve done some research but the advice online is so confusing and everyone tells you something different. You don’t know what to try next or what to do to help your dog.

The Teenage Phase Can Be The Trickiest Stage Of A Dog’s Development

I saw so many excellent dog owners and well trained puppies struggling to apply the training in the real world during the adolescent phase of their dog’s development. The teenage phase can be the trickiest stage of a dog’s development, for both us and our dogs!

I’ve helped hundreds of owners and dogs go from overwhelmed, frustrated and lost, to understanding each other, having a strong relationship and being able to enjoy time together again.

How I Approach Training

Often we fall into the trap of telling our dogs what to do all the time. We practise sit, stay, come, and so on. Although these are useful, I will show you how to take your dog’s training further, working on them being able to make good decisions for themselves rather than us always having to do all the work to manage their behaviour.

I also take the time to help you understand your dog and their emotions. Without understanding how to help your dog regulate their emotions, they will struggle to listen to you or make good choices.

Before I worked with dogs I studied Sociology at the University of Edinburgh, where I graduated with a first class degree and spent two years studying Psychology. Understanding how emotions drive behaviour is the foundation of everything I do, and that is where it started.

How I Help

I will support you through every step of your training journey with tailored guidance applied to your individual dog in your location. I will show you how to understand your dog, read their body language, help them manage their emotions and build a stronger relationship between you and your dog.

At the end of the process you will feel more confident taking your dog out and about, and know how to manage their behaviour effectively and calmly.

Are We A Good Fit?

If you want to understand your dog, not just train them, are willing to work with me as a team, are happy to practise between sessions and understand that behaviour change takes time, we will make the perfect team to help you get your dog to where you’d like them to be.

I focus on building your relationship with your dog. This is done using positive reinforcement, while helping your dog to regulate their emotions. For us to achieve your goals, you need to commit to the process and be honest with me so I can help you to the best of my ability.
