I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2016 with a 1st class degree in Sociology. However, after fulfilling my lifelong dream and getting my own dog in Summer 2017 I realised that I wanted to pursue a career that involved working with dogs.
I started to gain experience by volunteering at Dumfries and Galloway Rescue Centre where I walked the rescue dogs. I volunteered to work with the Welfare and Behaviour Coordinator to train dogs and increase their likelihood of being adopted. Although I no longer volunteer at the centre, I conduct home visits for the charity.
I also wanted to understand more about the theory behind dog behaviour so I began reading textbooks on the subject and took several online courses:
I moved to Edinburgh in May 2019 and volunteered for Dogs Trust Dog School during the Summer where I assisted at their puppy and adolescent dog classes.
In June 2019 I set up my dog walking business and it has grown quickly due to the demand for individual walks and a more personalised service.
In Spring 2020 I completed Canine Principles' Canine Coaching Accredited Diploma and started offering 1-2-1 dog training services.
I no longer offer dog walking services due to the high demand for tailored 1-2-1 dog training.
In 2021-22 I completed the following courses:
I am a member of the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT) and am an ABTC Registered Animal Trainer.
This means I am held to high ethical dog training standards, focusing on positive reinforcement and ethical dog training.
In March 2022 I set up an online shop where we sell all the top quality treats and equipment I use every day as a professional dog trainer.
One place to find all the positive equipment and treats your dog needs.
I work with you as a team to find solutions which are long lasting and effective.
There are lots of ways to train a dog, so it is all about finding the right way for you and your dog.
I only use ethical, scientific dog training methods.
I never use force or positive punishment.
Sometimes there is more to dog training than the behaviour.
I will help you look at your dog's lifestyle, routine and preferences to help get to the root of any issues.
It is difficult to train your dog if you don't have a good relationship with them.
I will help you grow your bond with your dog so you can communicate more effectively with each other.
We ask a lot from our dogs in the City of Edinburgh and it is not surprising that many dogs are anxious because of the daily stresses they have to face. I work to build your dog's confidence, helping to reduce their anxiety and make them more comfortable in their surroundings.
Dog training can be hard work and it doesn't always go smoothly.
That's why I am always available to offer support whenever you need it.
